Welcome to my blog.

After a few random posts I've decided to dedicate this blog to my life long project of Japanese food
and culture (and my life in general, especially my travels).

Since my first taste of sushi back in 1997 I've been interested in, and frequently been making
Japanese food.
My interest in the country and culture started long before and continues to evolve.
I was lucky to finally visit Japan in October 2008, again in November 2019 and hope to be back soon.
In July 2012 I visited Japantown in San Fransisco, the next best thing!
I was lucky to be back in 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2019 thanks to the fact that we now have family living in California.
Both small and big adventures will from now on, as time permits, be shared with you.

I will post other recipes and pictures too, mainly cooking projects, plants and art projects
(including my new love - making kumihimo braided objects).

I hope you'll find it interesting, and feel free to leave a comment or ask questions!

I write mainly in English, but there will be some Norwegian too, especially posts about things
that mainly have Norwegian interest. Tutorials are bi-lingual.

Beautiful ceramics...

I was lucky enough to buy not just one, but two, beautiful tea ceremony bowls in Japantown. First I bought this beauty. I wanted a light color since I already got a black one.
It has lovely uneven grey glaze with little dots in it and white pattern that looks like grass or straws.
Then I walked on to the next store and saw this one... oh, and I love blue. So I got this one as well.
It reminds me of the ocean; the Pacific, with the striking color and wave pattern. No regrets, they´re so lovely. If I had a more money, I would get an antique chawan, but I´m happy with these!

I´ve been braiding again....

I must admit that I didn´t braid at all this summer. 6 weeks completely without lifting a cord. It was kinda nice, I didn´t miss the work and strain on my hands/ shoulders, but I missed being creative.

Suddenly I got several custom orders, all in one week, and I "got back on the horse again". I don´t have to tell you I already got all 3 braiding discs going at the same time....
I´ve been ordering new endcaps from www.smyks.dk, they even had square ones... perfect for my square braiding.

It´s very nice to have full size spools of almost every color satin cord. The suitcase was heavy, but it was worth it. I´ve also decided to register my company, so I got my books in order with an organization number and filling in my balance. I´ve ordered new business cards from Moo and a book to do my balance.

So, want to see some new stuff?

Square braid with mousetail, sterling silver details including square endcaps, inner diameter 4,5 mm.

Square braid in forest colors, details in sterling silver coated with 14K gold, large white fresh water pearl.
